Story

Over the course of five days, students in the Blackburn College Choir will travel to New York City. The Choir has been invited by Marie Ellis to perform under her direction at Carnegie Hall. Along with singers from across the country and the New England Symphonic Ensemble, the group will perform Robert Ray's Gospel Mass. The College Choir's director, Dr. Joseph Welch, has connections to both Ellis and Ray. In preparation for their performance, we plan to bring both of these esteemed St. Louis musicians to Blackburn, making this an unforgettable educational and performance experience.

While in New York, students will take advantage of the city's culture, including visiting major museums and seeing shows on Broadway. Their residency ends with a post-performance cruise around lower Manhattan, including dinner, dancing, and a magical view of the Statue of Liberty.

To sponsor one student, $4,000.00 will cover their performance package, travel costs, and New York City fun! Gifts of any size, however, will support our program and help to offset costs of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity!
