Story

Knowledge Quest is located in one of the poorest zip codes in the nation. As an organization, we work to support youth and community development by providing families with resources to stabilize their households and educating the young minds within them. We have been able to see progress with our families and children but we need your investment to help us move them forward.

We are looking to provide school supplies, school uniforms and new interactive literacy programming for all students at Knowledge Quest. When you invest in school supplies and uniforms, you will assist families in becoming "anchored". At Knowledge Quest, we use the term anchored to show that a family has become stable. The Family Stability Initiative program at Knowledge Quest works with families by providing family coaching inclusive of essential life skills. Financial Literacy and developing a family budget is one benchmark toward becoming "anchored'. With basic needs demands of food, shelter and clothing, school supplies are many times sacrificed, adversely impacting early academic success. Donating to the Drive for 300 campaign will not only help close a financial gap among families, but most importantly, help our students get off to a great start at school.

At the beginning of 2018, new students at the Kindergarten and First grade levels came in below national standards post of reading comprehension assessments through our Reading A-Z software . All Kindergartners came in at an efficiency level of 18% in the Fall of 2018 and by Spring 2019 these students attained an aggregate efficiency level of 68%! First graders started 51% and rose to 89% efficiency in Spring 2019! We would like to see this growth continue with the implementation of an additional interactive literacy program called Book Nook. Book Nook is a digital literacy program with proven success in increasing literacy rates for students.

We are most proud of our students academic achievements and the overall progression of families in our South Memphis community. We need your support in continuing our quest to sustain recent student and family successes. Please consider making a donation to the Drive for 300 campaign to help build a better South Memphis today.

A one time gift of $50 will provide one student with a subscription to Book Nook and school supplies.
