Story
Do you remember when children played outdoors, discovering the sights and sounds of nature, breathing in fresh air, and exploring the wild edges of their surroundings? Today, instead of playing in streams, too many kids spend their days indoors, staring at screens missing out on experiences that will make them happier, healthier, and stronger stewards of our natural world.
You have the opportunity to help us get kids back outside.
This giving season, the Kids in Parks program has the ability to double the impact of your financial support. Through a generous pledge from a Blue Ridge Parkway Foundation board member, the program will be able to match up to $2,500 in donations between now and December 31. This funding is vital in the programs efforts to engage tens of thousands kids and families in fun, outdoor recreation activities that promote health, education, and stewardship.
In 2021, the Kids in Parks program surpassed a major milestone one million TRACK Trails adventures completed by kids. These adventures equate to more than one million miles being walked and 500,000 hours being spent outdoors, demonstrating the impact the program is having to help kids and families develop meaningful connections with our parks, public lands, natural world, and each other.
With your help, Kids in Parks will be able to double-down on their mission and expand upon this vital work. Please have your gift matched today!
It's a fun activity to do with my kids. Using the brochure gives us a focus, a topic of the day to think about as we explore.
