Story
For the past two years, the WaterAid community has come together to support HerWASH through our annual match campaign, raising almost $80,000 in support of the program! With the HerWASH program coming to a close, this year we'd like offer you the opportunity to double your impact in support of communities in Ghana, Mozambique, and Uganda.
Thanks to support from the Canadian Tilling Foundation, your donation in the month of March will be matched up to $10,000 - your donation will hold twice the power to help people reach their full potential, and bring us one step closer to world where everyone, everywhere has access to clean water, decent toilets, and good hygiene.
With access to clean water and safe, gender-responsive toilet blocks, Jackie can go to school without fear of getting sick from drinking dirty water.
For many years, we did not have safe drinking water points at school. [Now] in the bathroom there is tap water and soap, I no longer miss classes when having periods. - Jackie
Because of support from people like you, WaterAid and its partners reached 1.5 million people with access to clean water this past year, and almost 1.6 million people now have access to a decent toilet. We are so proud of what we've collectively accomplished, and we hope you are too. But there remains work to be done, with 771 million people lacking access to clean water, and 1.7 billion people without a decent toilet of their own.

Your support this month will empower young women and girls like Judith by ensuring they understand their rights; are equipped to make decisions about their own health and bodies; are able to access health care, free of stigma; and best of all, they will have reliable access to clean water and safe, gender responsive latrines and toilet blocks.
Before, I thought it [menstruation] was a disease. I was afraid of it, and I was very embarrassed about it. [Now] I feel relieved and relaxed - have learned how to protect myself with clean cloths when my period comes.
Whole communities have been transformed because of your desire for change, your trust in WaterAid, and your generosity. We're excited about the progress that will be unleashed when contributions are doubled.
