This year, Alpha Phi Omega-Gamma Chapter is sponsoring a virtual fun run in memory of our brother, Nathaniel Rand. For the last 10 years, APO has been running in Nate's honor and to raise money for the Children's Hospital at Montefiore. This year, since we are unable to run together, we will host a virtual run September 26-October 2, 2021. The idea is to run a 5K when convenient for you and fund raise for the program. All funds raised will benefit the Nathaniel Rand Playroom Program at Children's Hospital at Montefiore (CHAM).
The top 3 winners will be recognized with a prize during the closing ceremony on October 2, 2021 at 11:00 am.
Play is an important part of every child's life, its essential to their growth and development. Play is also a tool for learning and can be used to promote healing and a sense of mastery and coping during challenging life events. The Nathaniel Rand Playroom Program provides funding for Playroom Assistants at CHAM.
Nate was a dedicated Child Life volunteer at CHAM and this program named in his memory helps children and adolescents every day. Nate spent several summers as a volunteer and loved his work with the children. He understood the fears and issues that children and teenagers face in the medical setting due to his own experiences as a hospital patient. Nate planned to dedicate his career to helping others overcome the challenges and stresses in their lives. Through the Nathaniel Rand Playroom Program, Nate's mission is continued.
