Jade's Story

During her journey at Pace, Jade had to overcome many setbacks and struggles, but through it all, she never gave up. When she first came to Pace in the 10th grade, she was distrustful and did not communicate with any of her peers, and seldom smiled or laughed. She came to Pace angry, struggled to follow teacher instructions, and was behind academically.

However, through dependable support from her academic advisors and social services care team, Jade slowly began to trust, listen to instructions, and connect with other Pace girls. With hard work and commitment, she became a student ambassador and the Vice President of the Senior Committee.

Thanks to our Pace Works partnership with Starbucks, Jade was able to secure a part-time job during her time at Pace. She regularly met with our College and Career Readiness Coordinator to discuss her career goals. After numerous assessments and strategic planning, Jade realized her heart was pulling her towards a career in beauty health sciences and cosmetology.

"I [want] to help young women find [the] beauty that lies within themselves...[and help] them find their own voice," says Jade. "

Jade graduated from Pace in July of 2020. She secured a Viv Maza Women's Scholarship sponsored by the Women in Leadership of Ultimate Software and was able to enroll at Boca Beauty Academy in August of 2020 so she can make her dream come true.

We hope you'll rock with us!"
