Story
It is an understatement to say that it has been a challenging year for us all. But we are in awe of the solidarity our community has shown and continues to demonstrate for Pequot Library. We are so very grateful for your continued support, especially as the pandemic put so many Library fundraising events and activities on hold. I am pleased to report that the Board and staff kept the Library thriving throughout the spring and summer, engaging our community through a variety of online offerings and reimagined Library services.
Your contribution keeps our building illuminated, our shelves stocked, our staff compensated, our computers running, and our programs accessible, so that we can be here when the community needs us most. Because of your support last year, even in challenging times we were able to:
- Host a Small Fall Book Sale that safely reunited the community.
- Offer 60 free virtual public programs, which reached 32,000 children and adults in our digital space across platforms.
- Resume Historic Southport Walking Tours, selling out every date.
- Recalibrate our entire menu of Library Services to ensure public safety, including the addition of curbside pickup/drop-off.
Our efforts this year culminate with the excitement of restoring the Librarys beautiful Ludowici red-tiled roof. After years of careful planning, we began work on replacing the 125-year-old roof and its underlayment this September. This massive undertaking will ensure the preservation of the Librarys historic building and precious collections for the next century.
There is no doubt that 2020 was a year of historic proportions. We don't yet know what 2021 has in store. Can we count on you to help fortify Pequot Library so that she remains strong and versatile in the year to come? During this season of generosity and giving, we hope you will support this incredibly special institution, because together we have Pequot Library covered.
From all of us at Pequot Library, thank you so much for your support.
P.S. Did you know that charitable donations of $300+ fall "above the line" for a Federal Income Tax deduction? You can make the most out of your seasonal giving with this tax-savvy win-win!
