Young people coming through the foster care system have such great potential, but this system is not designed to help young adults manage the pursuit of higher education. The SJC community can help change that!
To financially support students coming from the foster care system who have inadequate/absent family support, and who no longer qualify for state assistance, Ruthann Rizzi '85 established The St. Joseph's College Aging-Up Endowed Scholarship. Ruthann spent time in the foster care system and was very fortunate to have enough family and scholarship support to attend St Joe's. The chemistry major who graduated from SJC Brooklyn has now practiced as a physician for over 30 years, including nearly 20 years as psychiatric director of a medical school mental health counseling service. "I've treated many young adult patients over the years in this higher education setting, and I've seen what support at this crucial time can help them accomplish." Your donation will enable SJC to help students age-up and toward graduation.
