Over the past year, a number of online students at both the undergraduate and graduate levels have expressed difficulties purchasing textbooks for a variety of reasons. To help support both new and continuing students who may be facing financial challenges, the SJC Online department would like to raise money to create an SJC Online Student Book Fund. New students would be identified for the fund by financial reporting evaluation based on criteria similar to that of Federal Pell Grant eligibility, and continuing students by self-identification. Funds raised would enable the department to send electronic Barnes & Nobles gift cards that could be used at the SJC Bookstore or any Barnes & Noble location, including their website.
