Every year Closer to Home's Adopt-a-Family program provides gift cards to over 400 vulnerable families in Calgary so they can purchase food, basic necessities and gifts during the holiday season.

Donors are matched with a specific family. By providing gift cards rather than physical gifts, participants are empowered to decide what their families' needs are during this season. Portions of each gift are designated to Seasons of Hope to care for families throughout the year, and to cover the administrative costs of the program.

How does it work?

1) Determine the family size you would like to adopt, based on the options below. Set this number as your fundraising goal.

2) Once you are finished fundraising we will match you with a deserving family, and send you a note sharing some details about the family you have adopted. You can share about your family with everyone who participates in your fundraiser!

3) With plenty of time to shop and wrap gifts, families will receive a gift card package purchased with your generous donation!

If you are not able to fundraise enough to adopt a family, but would still like to participate, your fundraiser can be designated to Seasons of Hope! You will support families experiencing crisis or struggles throughout the year.
