From Louisville Classrooms to Congolese Schools

Campaign by Waterstep Inc

The Rho Kappa National Social Studies Honors Society at Atherton High School is turning compassion into action by raising $3,000 to install 2-3 handwashing stations in 8 schools across the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

Transforming communities in 72 countries by delivering safe water solutions, education, and crisis response with more than 5,000 projects that have directly impacted more than 15 million lives!

Story

In many parts of the DRC, lack of basic hygiene facilities in schools contributes to high rates of illness among children, causing missed school days and long-term health challenges. These new handwashing stations will provide thousands of schoolchildren with reliable access to safe water and soap — simple tools that can dramatically reduce the spread of diarrhea, respiratory infections, and other preventable diseases.

This project not only improves daily hygiene but also teaches lifelong healthy habits and supports better attendance and focus in the classroom. It’s a powerful example of how student-led efforts can create ripple effects of change across the world.

A huge thank you to everyone who will support the Rho Kappa National Social Studies Honors Society at Atherton High School in this effort — your generosity will make a difference.

Final deadline to fully fund the project: June 1, 2026

Every donation brings us closer to ensuring these stations are installed and maintained. Join the movement and help amplify this student-led global impact.
