Step by step, drop by drop, Aveda is making waves for change.

Aveda Canada, in partnership with WaterAid Canada since 2006, has helped women, children, and communities across Ethiopia, Kenya, and Madagascar access clean water.

This Earth Month, Aveda Canada’s networks – salons, spas, and storefronts, along with Aveda Canada guests and supporters – will come together to host fundraising events across the country, including Aveda Canada’s Walk for Water, in support of WaterAid Canada.

Although they come from the same region in Malawi, Rachel and Merifa live very different lives. That's because Rachel, her family, and hundreds of others are still without clean water at home.

For Merifa, access to clean water has already transformed her life when WaterAid worked with her community to install a 30,000-litre water tank in 2021.

Once, like Rachel, she spent hours every day fetching unsafe water, missing school, and worrying about their family’s health. But now, thanks to the installation of a local water point, she has more time for school, her studies, and after-school choir practice.

As part of the same project, Rachel and Merifa's school got clean water. Three years on, there is more time to be at school and with friends.
