FEARS FOR CHILDREN IN BEIRUT EXPLOSION
Lebanon is already going through a severe economic crisis, with many families struggling just to put food on the table. And with a sharp spike in COVID cases, hospitals are already overwhelmed. No matter what the emergency, children suffer the most. They may be hurt, shocked and separated from their parents. Its vital that children and families get help to get back on their feet, and the physical and emotional protection they need.
Our Emergency Fund means we can be on the ground within hours of a disaster striking, so we can quickly reach children with the essentials they need to survive.
OUR RESPONSE
- We have Child Protection teams on standby to support the governments response
- We are also preparing to support families who were already struggling due to the economic crisis and now find themselves unable to access basic essentials.
We're already running emergency programming throughout Lebanon including:
- Raising vital awareness on COVID-19 prevention
- Distributing disinfection kits to keep children safe during the pandemic
- Delivering food parcels to families
- Providing cash transfers for families struggling during the economic crisis.
