Story
Building Goodness Foundation is excited to be partnering with La Puerta Abierta, an inspiring nonprofit in Santiago, Atitlán, Guatemala, that provides innovative education and literacy programs for local children. Their growing community, which consists of families that often survive on as little as $8 a day, is in need of a safe and vibrant new school building — a place where children can learn, create, and dream big.
La Puerta Abierta provides children with a high-quality education rooted in curiosity, literacy, and play. Their programs go beyond the classroom — from a traveling library that brings books to local schools, to reading circles for teens, to a mothers’ artisan group that generates income to support scholarships. By blending art, nature, and storytelling with strong academics, La Puerta Abierta empowers children to dream big and families to thrive. A new school building will enable them to have a central location for classes and programs, and provide a space for their dreams to become reality.
BGF volunteers will be traveling to Guatemala to work side-by-side with local builders to grow this new space from the ground-up. Each volunteer trip represents more than just construction — it’s about connection, collaboration, and creating opportunity. Together, we are building not just classrooms, but brighter futures.
We invite you to join us in making this work possible. Donations to the volunteer travel fund help cover essential travel and project costs so that more volunteers can be on the ground, contributing their time and energy directly to the community. Every gift makes an impact: when you give, you’re helping open doors for children who will benefit from this school for years to come.
Thank you for supporting Building Goodness Foundation, La Puerta Abierta, and the future students of Santiago, Atitlán. With your help, we can build goodness that lasts.
