Help Cal Maritimes Water Technology Teams be competitive in the International MATE/MTS ROV Competition and the 2023 SailBot Competition.
Starting new design projects from scratch requires significant initial investment, a sum that is not covered by Cal Maritime's $1,200 budget allotted to engineering senior capstone teams. For instance, past winning ROV teams from other universities had budgets of $10,000+. We know we can do it for less!
We are 12 seniors who have a passion for advanced water-based technology systems. Representing two Mechanical Engineering Senior Capstone Design teams, we love making circuits, programming, and building systems that will carry out tasks on or in the water.
We came together with common goals to create strong competition teams, involve underclass students in design & team problem-solving, develop skills using renewable energy, and develop industry & professional partnerships.
The mechanical engineering design capstone projects are the culmination of a three-semester course and apply all the skills learned in four years of Cal Maritime engineering studies. This year, we are focusing on building a Remotely Operated Underwater Vehicle (ROV) for the 2023 MATE/MTS ROV competition and an Autonomous Sailboat for the 2023 SailBot Competition.
