I decided a while ago that I would like to complete an IRONMAN before my 50th birthday. Part mid-life crisis, part excuse to be healthier. I have always enjoyed triathlons (it caters to my ADD and boredom with just running, etc.), and a full IRONMAN is the ultimate challenge. Once I signed up for the race in Cozumel, I was determined to have a larger impact and wanted to turn my personal goal into a fundraising opportunity.

Over the last few years, I have gotten to know more about Cancer Services of Greater Baton Rouge and their mission to improve life for those living with cancer. They serve all members of our community in an extremely vulnerable time, particularly those that can not afford it and those that just dont know what to think or where to turn. The staff is amazing, their mission is critical, and they get limited exposure. The IRONMAN is 70.3 miles and my goal is to raise $1,000 per mile, and more importantly expose new donors to the value of what Cancer Services provides in our community.

Since 1959, Cancer Services has been improving life for those living with cancer by providing critical support to help families and individuals of all ages through the difficulties presented by a cancer diagnosis. Our goal is to provide therapeutic, free-of-charge support through counseling, support groups, exercise programs, adult and childrens programming as well as assistance in the form of nutritional supplements, emergency grants, wigs, medical equipment loans and more.
