Power of One Day 2019 · 6 November 2019 ·
The Career Development Center provides resources for students to translate their academic skills into career readiness. Programs such as the Practice Interview Program help students develop interviewing skills needed to be successful in securing internships, full-time jobs, or entry into competitive graduate schools. The Center also provides opportunities for students to participate in unpaid internships without the worry of living expenses. Over half of internships available to students are unpaid and through programs such as the Career Ready Internship Grant students can focus on the best opportunity for developing their skills.
Gifts to the Career Development Center ensure continuation, and enable the expansion of key initiatives that help prepare Hamline students for the future. Funds will focus on the following areas:
Unpaid Internships: $5,000 helps Hamline convert 2-3 unpaid internships into PAID internships, making valuable professional experiences feasible and accessible to more students.
Career Readiness: $2,000+ enables the development and distribution of materials to students, faculty and staff essential for helping students develop the core competencies needed for success in today's job market.
Practice Interview Program: $3,000 guarantees one semester of the implementation of the program, allowing more than 200 students to participate in the program to develop interviewing skills needed to be successful in securing internships, full-time jobs, or entry into competitive graduate schools.
Internships funding allows me to spend more time on internship, without having to worry about balancing an internship and also being able to pay for all the expenses that come along as a college student. I am able to spend more time working on my internship and growing as a young professional, and less time working at a mundane job that does little to better my career." - Past recipient of internship funding
