Pace Miami has been changing the lives of girls in our community for more than seven years. Girls like V, who shares her story here.

V came to us last year and at that time she was cutting classes and was not sure she wanted to stay in school at all. She was making very risking decisions and her behavior was deteriorating as she was trying to deal with the recent loss of her grandmother who was her rock. Mom thought Pace Miami would be the right place for her daughter but was not convinced of our strength-based approach. V felt that she had made so many mistakes that there was no turning it around. Her life was not going to improve. Vs counselors worked with her on her confidence and empowerment. V began to enjoy the small classrooms and the one on one attention she received from her teachers. Vs Pace Miami Care team worked with V and her mother to begin the restoration of their relationship. This began with mediations with her team and Mom and the introduction of wrapped around services for V to assist in her progress. V began to really work on the Pace program and as we like to say we were able to witness her blossom into an engaged, proactive student. She progressed through the Growth and Change stages and became an active member of the Girls Leadership Council. We are so happy to report that she is on track for Graduation with the Class of 2020 after this summers session! She wants to go to college to study business as she wants to have her own business! This is the change in a girls life that places her on a very different path one for success and most importantly fulfillment.

After Pace Miami, 93% of girls have no involvement with Juvenile Justice System, within one year, 96% improved academically and 98% are in school or employed. An ongoing relationship with our Pace Girls is key once a Pace Girl always a Pace Girl! Creating a lasting pathway to success is the ultimate goal for our Pace Girls.
