The Charleston Marathon® is proud to continue its longstanding support of Engaging Creative Minds! Join our mascot, Art Powers, and our Executive Director, Robin Berlinsky, as they tackle the virtual Marathon over a 11 day window. Not only will they be raising awareness of ECM's Arts Integrated programs, but they also are raising money to provide more Arts experiences in local schools.

As we know all too well, March of 2020 brought abrupt and unexpected changes to all our lives with the COVID-19 pandemic. Schools were closed and camps canceled.

Through all the changes, the most difficult part of this past year has been watching lost arts opportunities for over 4,705 students this past spring and summer.

Despite all of these turns, ECM responded. We provided 357 K-8 students with CReATE Kits this summer, we led a workshop for teachers in Berkeley, Charleston and Dorchester District 2, and we are set to pilot an after school program in spring 2021.

ECM is an Arts Integration educational nonprofit based in Charleston, South Carolina. ECM works with school districts, principals, teachers and the local workforce to identify specific knowledge and skill sets all students should master before graduating high school. ECM hires and trains local artists, STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) professionals and cultural organizations, called ECM Instructors, to work with grade level teams of teachers to support learning through the Arts.

ECMs goals are for students to achieve academically, stay engaged in school and succeed in life, while teachers develop Arts Integration teaching strategies to utilize in their own classroom planning.

To accomplish its mission, ECM facilitates Engaged Learning Experiences (ELEs) for K-8th graders during the school year and at our six-week Summer STEAM Institute® camp.

Both teachers and students report that ECM is a powerful model of success.
