Organised by Lincoln University

The Class of 1980 Continuing Our Legacy Learn.Liberate.Lead

Closes 30/06/2025

To support the mission of Lincoln University: Lincoln University, the nation's first degree-granting Historically Black College and University (HBCU), educates and empowers students to lead their communities and change the world.

Story

The class of 1980 burst upon the scene in August of 1976. We hit the campus full of stories of how great college would be. Mom and Dad weren't there to look over your shoulder, so now was the time to have fun. The first few hours of orientation week did nothing to change our feelings; we met many people, got settled in our new dorm room, and found out that your new roommate wasn't a complete bore. However, after the first couple of days of tests, library orientation and Dean Vernon's motherly lectures about the sins of wearing curlers in your hair to class, we began to adjust and then the cafeteria food gave people serious doubts about the good college life.
