On Wednesday, March 17, the African American Legacy Fund honored Claude Robinson UCANs Executive Vice President, External Affairs and Diversity with the 2020 Donald Steward Fellowship Award for his many accomplishments and commitment to education, diversity, and inclusion. The Donald Stewart Fellowship is awarded to leaders in the African American community and pays tribute to the life and legacy of Stewart, the former CEO and President of The Chicago Community Trust.
Claude spearheads community outreach and engagement for UCAN and played a key role in the agency's move to North Lawndale. He also pioneered UCAN's nine-tier Diversity, Equity and Inclusion program, a model that has influenced the DEI work of other nonprofits nationwide. His contribution to the African American community, youth, families, and black-owned businesses continues to not only demonstrate the growth and success of UCAN, but also inspires others, particularly young people, to strive towards the best version of themselves.
