Story

Our purpose is to honor the legacy of our lifelong friend, Dr. Andrew J. Hull, who died February 11, 2021. And to generate operating funds for Jr. and Sr. High Cross Country at Sandusky Schools.

Though Drew only spent his high school years in Sandusky, he always considered it home. Throughout his many years at MSU attaining his BS., MS. and Ph.D's in Mechanical Engineering; as well as after moving to Rhode Island to accept a position as a Research Dr. with the US NAVEL UNDERWATER WARFARE DEPARTMENT. Dr. Hull always returned to attend class reunions and visit his former Cross Country
Coach Wayne Roberts and his wife.

While in high school, Drew's favorite sport was Cross Country Running. When he learned the sport was no longer funded, merely a "club sport" dependent on volunteer coaches and the large invitational they sponsored each season to secure operating funds. Drew took immediate action, by sending a support check annually; which continued until his death.

The reason Drew felt strongly about this is due to the lessons, along with the discipline learned; running High School Cross Country helped him accomplish all the goals in his life". So he wanted others to benefit from the sport as he did.

Obviously, having earned a Ph.D, and numerous National Scientific Awards, tells you that another love of Drew's was, gaining knowledge and using it to benefit others. Therefore our goal is two-fold, to generate operating funds for Jr. and Sr. High Cross Country Teams and be able to offer an annual scholarship to a deserving runner. Possibly one male and one female as our athletes are nearly All Honor Students.

Our teams have represented Sandusky over 20 times at the Michigan State Finals. Which in turn has produced many All-State and Academic All-State Athletes over 40 years. Each one has carried their strong work ethic and "team player attitude" into their
chosen profession and are truly examples of the values learned, growing up in Sanilac County.

SUGGESTIONS FOR GIVING;
SHS Class of 1978 maybe $78.00 High school cross country runner from 78 - 5km X $78=$390.
