Story

Children's Therapy Center is the largest and most comprehensive independent nonprofit pediatric therapy program in Washington State. Since 1979, we've provided essential services for children with special needs including physical, occupational and speech therapy; early intervention services; and parent education and support. In partnership with parents and caregivers, we celebrate where each child is today and work toward who they can become. Last year, we served over 3,000 children in South King and Pierce counties.

The children we serve need YOU! The pandemic has changed the way we deliver therapy services, but our commitment to kids is stronger than ever. Help make sure these children reach critical developmental milestones this year!

Day 6: Thank you!

What an amazing week its been! Our first virtual fundraiser has been a huge success, raising money for children with special needs.

I am so grateful to you for stepping up to support the very special children in our communities. Thanks to you, children will be able to continue meeting their developmental milestones this fall.

We look forward to sharing their incredible stories of success with you! Thank you so much for being part of the CTC family and for holding a place in your heart for the children we serve.

Sincerely,

Barry Gourley, CEO

P.S. Its not too late to make a gift if you have not already done so!

Day 5: How technology is helping

When the pandemic hit, our reliance on technology skyrocketed. Almost overnight, we shifted all our therapy sessions online and began remote delivery via Zoom. We were unprepared to make such a dramatic shift so quickly, but we've been resourceful and creative and its working!

The cost of providing telehealth services is significant, however. Please join us for today's story to learn more about how telehealth is working for our families and staff, and how you can help make it more successful!

Day 4: Learn about the new transition program

Older children face many more barriers to obtaining pediatric services than you may realize. While pediatric therapy programs for children birth to three are supported with federal funding, options for children over age 3 outside of school are limited. They are especially limited for families on Medicaid.

CTC received a grant from Best Starts for Kids to develop a transition program for children ages 3-5, but we need your support to keep the program going!

Day 3: Equity and Inclusion

Providing equitable services for ALL the families we serve is one of CTC's top priorities. Our families come from a variety of cultural backgrounds and ethnicities. Many face barriers of all kinds on a daily basis. We are committed to reducing those barriers and making sure all families feel welcomed and cherished at CTC.

Today's video shares a little more about how we're prioritizing equitable services. We're also hosting a book drive to supply our centers with more diverse children's literature. Please consider donating a book!

Day 2: What's it like to be back at CTC?

Today, we invite you to check out our video "Back to Play at CTC!" It explains what's new about returning for in-person services at CTC. Things are a little different these days, but you'll still see plenty of smiling and welcoming faces!

There are so many ways you can support our service delivery program. Since we'll be providing both in-person and telehealth sessions to families for many months to come, we have an urgent need for all sorts of things our program staff need to make those sessions safe and effective for all children.

-A donation of $35 helps us make sure we can see children safely! Includes items such as child-friendly masks, PPE kits for families, a face shield for therapists, and sanitizing wipes.

-A donation of $100 helps us purchase more of our favorite in-person therapy toys (like bubble blowing devices) and resources for our remote therapy sessions (such as cell phone clamps and document cameras that help a therapist show a child how to do an activity).

-A donation of $400 helps us purchase the tech tools and subscriptions our therapy staff need to make their virtual visits more effective when they can't see kids in person (such as Zoom licenses and fees for therapy-based apps).

Day 1: Welcome to the Week of Giving!

Welcome to CTCs first virtual fundraiser! Though the pandemic forced us to cancel our annual in-person fundraiser, we realized that an online event would allow us to share our story with even more people in a new and different way!

We hope you enjoy the first video of the week! Our CEO, Barry Gourley, joins CTC program directors Karen Smith and Jodi VanVleet to give you a preview of what to expect this week and why your support is so critical.

Enjoy, and thank you for being part of the CTC family!
