The streets are not the place for the men and women who volunteered to protect our freedoms, but there should never be veterans at the feet of our nation's capitol. That is why U.S.VETS opened our Washington D.C. site in 2003. By 2015, we were finally able to obtain our transitional housing building and since then we have grown. That building gives our organization the capacity to support 85 veterans each day and night. During the last two years, as the pandemic has increased poverty across the country, our facilities have been at full capacity. We have done so much, but we need to do more. Our nation's heroes deserve to live with dignity and independence. That is why U.S.VETS Washington D.C. needs your support; so we can expand our housing, mental health and job support for any veteran that needs us.
In the last year alone, we have provided 11,268 bed nights, 13,010 meals, 1,206 mental health assessments and 109 job placements. We are asking you to contribute to our goal of $10,378, which will close the funding gaps that we have so that our site can serve every veteran that comes through our door.
You could make a difference for thousands of veterans in the upcoming year. Help your community and your country. Contribute today.
