DeMay Living Center is a skilled nursing facility with a dedicated team that strives to provide person-centered, long-term and neurobehavioral care, and comprehensive rehabilitation to the Newark community. Our Mission

We are dedicated to providing personalized and professional care in a warm and inviting community environment, believing that exceptional long-term care begins with trust, compassion, and dedication. Specialty Care Services

We offer a diverse variety of specialty care services to meet the unique needs of our residents. Residents are attended to by the physician who knows them best, their primary care provider, and are supported by an extraordinarily talented staff of nurses and ancillary specialists such as registered dietitians, physical therapists, and recreational therapists.

How Foundation Funds Are Used

Foundation funding plays a vital role in elevating the quality of life for our residents by supporting meaningful enhancements to our care environments. These investments go directly toward creating spaces that are safer, more therapeutic, and more homelike.

One example is the Moore Place Neurobehavioral Neighborhood Sensory Room, a fully renovated space featuring new sensory equipment, furniture, paint, flooring, and lighting, along with a beautiful mural crafted by our therapeutic recreation team to add a personal touch. The sensory room provides residents with a safe place to stimulate their senses through light, sound, touch, and aroma, and gives staff the ability to adjust the environment, whether through changes in lighting or sound to meet each resident's individual needs in the moment.

Foundation funding has also supported the Occupational Therapy Gym Renovation. The kitchen is located in the gym and utilizes appliances to assist residents with getting back to their baseline and be independent after short term rehab. This upgraded space is specifically designed to help residents regain their independence and develop the skills needed to return home, a goal at the heart of everything we do.

Connected directly to Newark-Wayne Community Hospital, we are uniquely positioned to offer residents seamless access to a full continuum of care. Our residents enjoy a variety of social and recreational activities, fostering a vibrant community spirit where lasting friendships are formed, and every aspect of our facility has been thoughtfully designed with their comfort and well-being in mind.
