Dense Breasts Canada is an awareness raising and advocacy non profit made up of breast cancer survivors and healthcare professionals. We are dedicated to raising awareness of: The risks associated with dense breasts, the need for additional screening for women with dense breasts, the need for screening starting at 40 and continuing after 74, and the importance of early detection.

We have been advocating for the past 7 years for better breast cancer screening guidelines federally. The government has heard us loud and clear and all political parties agree the 2024 guidelines need revision.

We have successfully advocated for breast density notification across the country, going province by province and now Canadian women are being informed of their density category. We have also advocated successfully for additional provinces to begin self-referral for mammograms' at age 40 . We now have 10/12 jurisdictions offering/committed to self-referral in the 40s.

We believe in the critical importance of early detection and that women can be empowered to make informed decisions about their breast health when they are given evidence based, accurate information.
