Glockenspiels for Lower School Music

Our Lower School musicians, including our Orff Ensemble, use glockenspiels to learn basic music theory and practice rhythm.

Glockenspiels are used for Lower School music classes to help students learn rhythm, basic music theory, and strengthen hand-eye coordination. They are also fun to play! Students start using glockenspiels in pre-kindergarten music class and continue to use them until they reach fourth and fifth grade, when they can participate in Orff Ensemble. Orff Ensemble rehearses and performs each spring as an extra-curricular music offering. The Orff Ensemble consists of glockenspiels and other pitched percussion instruments such as metallophones and xylophones.
The glockenspiels were part of Dragons Choose in 2022, and we raised funds to purchase one new glockenspiel, but the need still remains, especially for Primary musicians!
