How can South High Alumni help?
Contributions to Denver Scholarship Foundation (DSF) will support our work with all Denver Public Schools (DPS) students we serve on their journeys to and through college graduation. If South High Class of 1965 raises at least $10,000 as part of their 2022 birthday celebration, then those funds will be designated to a DSF Named Scholarship fund to be awarded, as available, to DSF Scholars who graduate from South High.
Several '65 South High class members have pledged $8,000 to match your donation, dollar-for-dollar.
In honor of your deceased classmates, several '65 South High class members have pledged $8,000 to match your donation, dollar-for-dollar, to help achieve this goal. Join your fellow classmates today and make a gift supporting DSF students and Scholars. If you choose to make a gift, please read all donation options. You have the choice to make your name, your giving amount, or both anonymous. This is also an optional 5% fee added to your gift by default to cover processing fees on behalf of DSF. That additional fee is optional and can be removed by unchecking the related box during donation.
What does DSF do?
DSF helps make college possible and builds the educational and economic future of Denver by collaborating with DPS high school students, families, and partners statewide to increase access and completion of post-high school learning. Many DPS students begin their journey to and through college graduation by visiting a DSF Future Center.
At DSF Future Centers, located in DPS high schools, DSF College Advisors guide students through building and pursuing their plans after high school, with a primary focus on postsecondary planning for higher education, including each step of the college application and financial aid process. Whether they choose a pathway to pursue a certificate, associate, and/or bachelors degree, DSF provides navigation and thought partnership every step of the way. DSF operates 14 Future Centers that serve 22 DPS high schools - one of which resides in South High.
What are the results?
DSF Future Centers help DPS seniors apply for college, financial aid, and scholarships. DSFs Future Center at South High served 346 Class of 2022 students, representing 98% of that year's senior class. We are thrilled to report that 306 South High Class of 2022 Students were accepted to college. And we know that getting accepted is only the beginning of the college journey.
We have awarded DSF Scholarships to 847 South High alumni totaling $5,827,795.
DSF also provides scholarships to qualifying DPS graduates, including those from South High, who enroll in one of 31 College Partner schools, which include technical, community college, and universities across Colorado. The DSF Scholarship is considered promise-based because every student who meets eligibility requirements and deadlines receives the scholarship award. Since DSF's creation 15 years ago, we have awarded DSF Scholarships to 847 South High alumni through the years totaling $5,827,795.
Our Scholars receive $3 in additional financial aid from our College Partners for every $1 they receive from DSF.
On average, each year our Scholars receive $3 in additional financial aid from our College Partners for every $1 they receive from DSF. Because it takes more than just financial aid, DSF College Partners guarantee our Scholars additional academic and financial support on campus by providing additional grants and scholarships. Our College Partners also connect Scholars with special programs and services such as mentoring, tutoring, workshops, and other programs to help them succeed and graduate.
