Story
Right now, a rare strain of the Ebola virus is spreading in Bunia, Democratic Republic of Congo.
WaterStep is responding. The community both wants and needs us there.
We've secured radio shows and PSAs in Africa to educate communities about the outbreak and what they can do to help stop it from spreading. We've also deployed bleach production equipment to health facilities, and installed handwashing stations now serving more than 5,000 people every single day. Last but not least, we have partnered with Congo Connect & Thrive to have community members as our frontline team. Not outside experts parachuting in. Neighbors. Cultural experts. Trusted voices who can reach people that no outside organization can.
This is why it works. Communities protect themselves when they own the response.
Hygiene, sanitation and education are the first line of defense against Ebola's spread. Your support helps us keep the bleach flowing, the stations running, and the community team doing what only they can do.
We can't stop now. Will you join us?
