The purpose of this fund is to provide a named scholarship available to Latino/a/x students to pursue a quality education at Houston Community College.

"When it comes to education, Latinos tend to put the care and wellbeing of others before themselves. When choosing between career aspirations, education or supporting their families by any means necessary, family often comes first before any academic or personal aspirations. Latinos need awareness and exposure to the life changing benefits of Education. Our communities need the guidance necessary to progress, to close the gap, and to put their future on the forefront and stop taking the backseat. Creating this scholarship provides that first step. It provides the first step to take control of their life and make a difference. Its time for the Latino community to not just focus on getting a job to support their family but obtaining a career, to dream and be an inspiration to the next generation by seeking an educational credential.
