Echo Trail Middle School wants to fund the construction of four gender-sensitive latrines with handwashing stations at Congo Connect School in Goma, DRC. This will improve sanitation, hygiene, safety and dignity for all students and staff.
The school is experiencing sanitation challenges due to increased student enrollment, which has risen from 141 to over 250. Existing latrines are inadequate, posing health risks and potentially affecting attendance, particularly for girls.
The project includes hygiene education sessions for students and staff which will improve sanitation practices, reduce disease incidence, and increase school attendance, especially among girls.
The project will span approximately three months and will cost $6,000. It will significantly enhance the health and educational environment at Congo Connect School, supporting the broader mission of community empowerment through education and well-being.
