Story
The Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) / TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) office at Cal Poly Humboldt is seeking donations to support community-building programming for students. Thanks to previous donor support, events such as a Pumpkin Carving event, a Day of Love and Friendship karaoke night 🎤, an Honor Roll Ceremony, and a Grad Cap decorating event have been made possible. These events saw high attendance, and students were incredibly grateful for the opportunity to connect—many have already asked for them to return.
One standout was the Honor Roll Ceremony, where 315 Honor Roll students (GPA above 3.0), 107 students on the Dean’s List (GPA above 3.5), and 120 Presidential Scholars (GPA above 3.75) were recognized. The celebration brought students together to receive certificates, hear words of encouragement, and connect with peers. For many students—balancing academics alongside work, family, and other responsibilities—moments like these are meaningful recognition of hard work and a powerful reminder that they belong.
With donor support, these impactful events can continue, and programming can expand. This year, there are plans to introduce a field trip experience for incoming students to help build community and foster a sense of belonging from the start. Ideas include a guided tour of Arcata, a group outing to Sue-meg State Park or Headwaters Trail 🌲, or renting a local theater for a shared movie experience.
A gift directly supports these opportunities for connection, recognition, and belonging. Please consider making a donation today to help continue—and grow—these meaningful experiences for students 💛.
