Family strengthening initiatives are needed in Knoxville to combat the magnitude of stressors that exist for parents in the heart of Knoxville.

Our goal through our family engagement efforts is to partner effectively with parents in their children's healthy development, removing obstacles and equipping parents to better lead their families and be the source of support their children need. We are building long-term relationships with families with the potential to be generationally transformative.

Recent research reports what we anecdotally knew was true- the pandemic exacerbated material hardship and psychological distress for low-income families who were already struggling.

The Family Assistance Fund was created to meet pressing needs of families as they were brought to our staff's attention. The fund has become a critical resource that served more than 1,000 families last year and was used to provide groceries, gas cards, and rent and utility assistance.
