FIT's Interior Design department stands out with top-tier programs that foster creativity, technical proficiency, and sustainable practice. Offering both an Associate in Applied Science (AAS) and a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA), the curriculum integrates design fundamentals, cutting-edge technology, and practical business skills essential for thriving in the interior design industry. Students in the AAS program develop core skills, such as space planning and material selection, and work on immersive projects, including building repurposing. Those pursuing the BFA engage in advanced research, human-centered design, and capstone projects mentored by industry professionals, ultimately building robust portfolios to launch their careers.
Recognized as a leader in interior design education, FIT’s BFA program is CIDA-accredited, emphasizing evidence-based design and sustainable solutions. With access to industry mentorships and partnerships with organizations like IIDA and Urban Assembly, students are prepared to tackle real-world challenges creatively and ethically. Whether starting with the AAS or continuing through the BFA, graduates leave with the expertise to make impactful contributions to built environments across social, cultural, and environmental contexts.
