The Textile/Surface Design department at FIT immerses students in textile creation and manipulation, combining artistic vision with technical skill. The curriculum offers a comprehensive exploration of fabric design, covering woven, printed, and knit textiles while incorporating computer-aided design (CAD) to enhance creativity and innovation. Students can engage in hands-on projects that reflect real-world applications, including collaborative work with industry partners and participation in exhibitions.
Focusing on sustainability and contemporary design practices, the program encourages students to develop unique, market-ready collections that reflect current trends and cultural narratives. This multifaceted approach prepares graduates for diverse careers in fashion, interior design, and product development, equipping them with the tools to make a significant impact in the ever-evolving textile industry.
