IRSSS provides essential services to Residential School Survivors, their families, and those dealing with Intergenerational traumas. These impacts affect every family and every community across B.C. and Canada. This fact is most evident in the Corrections Canada Services-the numbers of First Nations people incarcerated, Child and Family Services child apprehensions, the high number of people on social assistance, unemployment and underemployed, lower levels of education, the lowest number within an ethnic minority of “determinants of health”, the list of impacts is extremely high while the services available to effectively assist impacts of Residential Schools remain quite low.

Story

Frontera is Turning Five Years Old!

To celebrate our success and recognize the support we've received from BC communities since 2018, we are on a fundraising mission to donate $5000 to charitable causes.

At Frontera, we support reconciliation efforts and believe meaningful reconciliation starts with healing. Our anniversary celebration is being held near this year's National Day of Truth and Reconciliation (September 30, 2023). To recognize this new holiday, we would like to again support the IRSSS.

We chose the IRSSS because this non-profit supports an array of direct reconciliation efforts towards healing BC First Nations people. Donations go to fund the following IRSSS services:

- Emotional support

- Trauma-informed cultural support

- Support for families of missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls

- Support for people impacted by Indian Day Schools and Indian Day Scholars

- QWUM QWUM XWII XWAAQQXX Youth Justice Program

- Presentations and workshops

- LGBTQI+ support
