According to the Childhood Bereavement Estimation Model an estimated 6.3 million children in the US will lose a primary caregiver or sibling by the age of 18. Furthermore, it states that in 2022, 1,089 children were newly bereaved each day in the U.S. Experiencing the death of a parent or sibling is an Adverse Childhood Experience that can have long-term negative mental and physical health effects for a child. These statistics bring into sharp focus the need for Good Grief's work.
We stand on the front lines of supporting grieving children and their families wherever they are, whenever they need us, for as long as they need us. We equip children, families, and communities with the tools they need to face grief and adversity from the start.
Good Grief reached thousands of individuals this past year through our comprehensive peer support programs held in our two family support centers, through our school programs and our over 360 school partners, and our teacher and parent education. The demand for our programs continue to grow.
After 20 years of serving our community, Good Grief remains focused on looking ahead at how we can make programs more accessible and reach many more children and families in need.
We don't do this work alone. We can't do this work alone. Together we are stronger. Our supporters are the reason we have remained strong for 20 years. Help us serve our community for another 20 years. Our kids need some one in their corner. Good Grief is there. Will you join us?
