Story

Black Student Union (BSU) is a student-run group with a threefold mission. (1) We create a safe space and supportive environment for students of color to express their opinions, ideas, and cultures. (2) We increase awareness and appreciation for Black history, culture, and issues through educational events, cultural celebrations, and open and engaging conversations. (3) We support and advocate for issues that affect students of color.

Our goal is to raise funds to take members on a 7-Day Civil Rights History Tour with Civil Rights Trail Tours. This is an all-included tour that will take students throughout the south. The tour would take students to multiple museums through states like Alabama, Tennessee, and Georgia. Hotels and transportation will be covered in the cost, but the initial transportation to Nashville will not be paid for and the minimum for groups is 14 people. Going to a predominantly white institution sometimes makes it hard to learn about black history, and we believe that this is the perfect life-changing opportunity to provide this for them.
