Story

"Healing and Commemoration" was designed to promote healing and recognition for over 150,000 Indigenous children (survivors and victims') who were removed from their families and communities to attend residential schools across Canada. The first church-run residential school opened in 1831, with the government adopting the idea and opening more across Canada in 1880. These schools operated until 1997.

This blanket serves to honor and bring awareness to the survivors of residential schools, as well as to remember those who did not survive. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of these blankets will be donated to the Indian Residential School Survivors Society (IRSSS) as well as Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc - Le Estcwicwéy̓.

Respectfully,

The Horse Barn.
