We are launching a fundraising campaign we're calling "Celebrating The Heart of The Willows". The purpose? To build a pickleball court for our residents who are The Heart of The Willows.
The Willows Community is an active group of over 120 Christian Scientists located in Laguna Hills, California. They are Christian Science teachers, practitioners, nurses, former Christian Science Monitor journalists as well as active church members (readers, board members, ushers, Sunday School teachers and more) and they have come to live at The Willows to continue their spiritual growth and active lives.
For recreation, our beautiful 20-acre campus in Southern California has walking paths, an outdoor swimming pool and exercise room. The pool is very popular in the summer but a pickleball court could be enjoyed year round. Our weather here in Southern California is consistently sunny and mild so a pickleball court on campus would provide a fun, stimulating activity and a great way for residents to connect with each other.
Why Pickleball?
Pickleball is one of the fastest growing sports in the U.S. especially for seniors. It combines elements of tennis, badminton, and ping pong. The game is played on a court the size of a badminton court and you can pick up the basic skills quickly and enjoy playing right away.
