Story

On December 30th, 2021, Colorado suffered the worst wildfire disaster in its history. The Marshall Fire destroyed over 1,000 homes in Boulder County; many people lost all their possessions, and tragically their beloved pets.

This could have been the fate of all the residents at Luvin Arms Animal Sanctuary.

The wildfire was seen raging from the Sanctuary, and as the fire inched closer to the property, we feared our worst nightmare would come true: our 120 residents would be trapped with nowhere to go. No hope of escape.

We currently have an emergency plan but lack enough trailers to effectively evacuate our residents. In a dire situation, our only remedy would be to release everyone into open fields near a major interstate, and hope they could evade the wildfire and traffic collisions.

The residents at Luvin Arms are our family members. We need more trailers to be able to keep them safe and evacuate them quickly and effectively in the case of an emergency.

Fortunately, the Marshall Fire narrowly missed the Sanctuary property, and all our residents remain safe, warm, and deeply loved. But we may not be so fortunate next time. We have learned that it only takes a spark and some wind to ignite major devastation in the dry Colorado climate.

Our current equipment needs are one horse trailer, two cow trailers, 15 large bird crates, identifying Luvin Arms halters for every resident, species-specific first-aid kits, and an emergency alarm system.

As we are committed to our residents, we are also committed to our community. We will use the evacuation trailers not only for our residents, but to help community members in their times of crisis. We are stronger together.

All of this life-saving equipment totals more than $80,000. As a committed animal sanctuary, we need your help to fund essential emergency rescue equipment. Please, help us acquire the necessary trailers and emergency supplies for all vulnerable animals in our area before the next disaster that strikesbecause next time, the danger may not spare us.
