Story
It has been the dream of AHOPE's to own land. Rent in Addis Ababa is high and subject to change at the whim of the landlord. Throughout the 15 years of AHOPE Ethiopia's existence, they have moved, on average, every 3-4 years. Moving this often affects our kids education and feelings of safety.
In 2019, BNCO approached AHOPE asking for a merger. Our name would remain but we would take on those families in the community having been served by BNCO, their existing clinic which serves the community at large and the property the own. This opportunity to support the families of BNCO as well as having property to create a permanent home for AHOPE Ethiopia, was the answer to prayers!
In September, 2020, with the merger complete and the Ethiopian Government consenting to the transfer of the property, AHOPE Ethiopia began making arrangements to move to their new home. By the end of October, the move has been completed.
Now comes the hard part. Building on the land and creating space that will accommodate Little AHOPE, Family Group Homes, Training Centers, Staff Offices, our Community Library, the existing Medical Clinic, space for children to play and a store which will help families with sustainability.
With this property, the vision is huge! But we need to build and to build we need your help. Our goal is $500,000. With this amount, along with matching funds, we will be able to create a self-sufficient compound which will meet the needs of everyone we serve.
