Iowa is a leading producer of agriculture products, which
are essential to feed a growing global population
estimated to be more than 9 billion by 2050. We hope to
provide students with an agricultural-based learning
experience. Change happens when individuals are given
the resources they need to learn, advocate and educate
others. We hope students and adults are motivated to
learn more about the unlimited ways agriculture applies to every part of every day.
What is Agriculture in the Classroom?
Agriculture in the Classroom seeks to improve agriculture literacyawareness, knowledge, and appreciationamong PreK-12 teachers and their students. An agriculturally literate person is one who understands and can communicate
the source and value of agriculture as it affects quality of life. Agriculture in the Classroom programs are designed to meet local needs and may include guest speakers, field trips, agriculture days, FarmChat® programs, or curriculum
units.
