The Massachusetts Voter Table is committed to supporting the most vulnerable people - those for whom participating in democracy has often felt out of reach. Through our work and collaborative efforts, we aim to create a democracy where all people have access to the education and tools that make it possible for them to feel informed at the voting booth, resulting in a more inclusive democracy in Massachusetts. As such, through our work with our Table members and coalition members, this year we plan to mobilize our partners and activists around the following priority legislations:

2025 Organizational Priorities:

Supporting Municipal Elections in Massachusetts: We aim to drive voter engagement and participation through targeted outreach, education, and mobilization efforts. Our goal is to increase Table membership and secure new funding in order to provide the level of support our Table members need during this election year.

*Same Day Voter Registration and Decoupling the Municipal Census: We will advocate for legislation to allow same-day voter registration and decouple the municipal census from voter registration, ensuring all Massachusetts residents have access to vote on election day.

*Rent Stabilization: Victories on raising wages and improving benefits in several gateway cities are negated due to increasing rents, adversely impacting vulnerable people. We will work to pass the rent stabilization bill to protect tenants from excessive rent increases.

*Automatic CORI Sealing: We will advocate for legislation to automatically seal certain criminal records after a period of time, allowing people with previous convictions to secure meaningful employment, find housing, pursue their education, and participate fully in their communities.

*Safe Communities Act: We will support the Safe Communities Act, prohibiting public safety officials from questioning people about immigration status without written, informed consent. This would offer safety to immigrants when reporting domestic violence, workplace violations, and housing violations to public officials, without fear of retaliation or deportation.

Through innovative voter outreach strategies, the engagement of our Democracy HUBS and table members, and our coalition work, MVT builds the capacity and leadership of our members. We work to advance a collective agenda for racial and economic justice, by bringing together community organizations for statewide campaigns and advancing local and statewide policy that can advance our collective long-term agenda for change for our most vulnerable communities.
