The No. 1 thing Dr. Chelsey McCabe, MD, a psychologist in the Children’s Psychiatry Clinic at OCH, always likes to tell parents is that children often don’t express the emotions that they’re feeling in a way that’s easily recognizable.
OCH’s team of therapists, social workers and psychologists work with parents and children – ranging from 12 months to 20 years old – to form a treatment plan for those who may be struggling with behavioral health and mental health.
We want to be mindful that we are able to bring that supportive language so that it encourages them to express themselves,” says Dr. McCabe. “It’s a collaborative approach.”
