MRF 30th Anniversary

Celebrating 30 Years of Innovation and a Lifetime of Hope

The MRF’s mission is to eradicate melanoma by accelerating medical RESEARCH while EDUCATING and ADVOCATING for the melanoma community.

Story

In 2026, the Melanoma Research Foundation (MRF) marks 30 years of driving innovation and advancing hope for the melanoma community. Founded in 1996 by stage IV melanoma patient Diana Ashby and her husband, Jeff Ashby, the MRF was born out of a critical need for better treatment options at a time when there were only three FDA-approved therapies and limited hope for patients—especially those with rare forms of melanoma.

Three decades later, the progress is remarkable. Today, there are more than 20 FDA-approved treatments for melanoma, including therapies for uveal melanoma, and the MRF has grown into the largest independent organization dedicated to melanoma. Through its mission to fund research, educate patients and advocate for meaningful change, the MRF continues to make a lasting impact.

As we honor Diana’s legacy and the community that has driven this progress—patients, caregivers, clinicians, advocates and supporters—we look ahead to the future with renewed determination.

To celebrate this milestone, we are working to raise $30,000 for 30 years of innovation. Thanks to a generous pledge from co-founder Jeff Ashby, every donation will be matched dollar-for-dollar up to $10,000, doubling your impact.

Join us in building the next chapter of progress and bringing hope to those affected by melanoma.
