The mission of the MRTC Fund is to honor and continue the legacy of Marilyn Rene Teasley Carnegie by awarding scholarships to deserving students. Eligible students must be classified as junior or senior, have a 3.5 GPA, and require financial assistance. You may go to www.mrtcfund.com for additional information on MRTC. The MRTC Fund has awarded over $100,000 in scholarships and has an endowment balance of approximately $400,000. Our 2021/2022 Fundraising goal is $50,000.
The New York Times published an article in 2008 that mentioned: When America catches a cold, African Americans catch the flu. This phenomenon likely applies to most HBCUs. Likewise, the coronavirus pandemic impacted most institutions and had a more adverse impact on HBCUs. As a result, HBCU leadership adjusted its 2021-2022 operating budgets to account for the revenue shortfall in the second half of the past academic year and potential lower enrollment in the Fall. The stakes are higher for HBCUs as they are more dependent on tuition and fees to fund their operating budgets and have smaller endowments to offset a reduction in revenue.
The MRTC Fund is committed to helping more students during these challenging times, but we need your help to make a significant impact.

Thank you so much for helping us raise over $56,000 during the pandemic (2020). The virtual parties were a huge success even though we were unable to meet in person.
Matching Gifts:
Matching gifts are a great way to double your donation easily! First, check to see if your employer offers a matching gift program. If they do and support education, there is usually a form or online portal to fill out a matching gift form. The contact for CAU is Shemitria Smith, Senior Director of Advancement Operations, at ssmith@cau.edu or 404.880.6909.
