Cal Poly Humboldt students enjoy an extraordinary college experience, taking small classes taught by professors who know them by name. They live and learn in one of the world's most beautiful places—near ancient redwood forests, mountains and beaches.

Story

Jeffrey S. Navarro graduated from the Environmental Resources Engineering program at Humboldt in December 2014 and tragically passed away in a car accident just one month later. We miss him deeply. Jeff’s family, Rene Navarro and Peggy Bryer, created the Jeffrey S. Navarro Mentorship Program as a meaningful way to honor his life and legacy. This program supports 2–3 engineering students each year as they mentor their peers. Jeff was a kind and gentle person who made others feel at ease—always ready to help and deeply committed to completing his ERE degree.

The mentors supported by this program regularly organize social events like weekly Tea Time and study sessions, while also coordinating professional development opportunities such as the School of Engineering Seminar Series and job shadowing experiences. Through this mentorship program, Jeffrey’s legacy continues to uplift and guide future engineers toward earning their degrees.

Help carry Jeffrey’s legacy forward. Make a gift today to the Jeffrey S. Navarro Mentorship Program Fund and support the next generation of engineers.
