Story
This is a humanitarian catastrophe with unimaginable and unnecessary suffering.
Children in Gaza are living through a nightmare – one that gets more distressing by the hour.
Children in Gaza and Israel have been killed, maimed, abducted and subjected to unspeakable violence. Hospitals and schools sheltering civilians have been destroyed.
The children caught up in this terrible conflict – who had nothing to do with causing it – urgently need your help.
That’s why the NEU is supporting Save the Children’s Gaza Emergency Appeal, to support those directly affected by the crisis.
HOW YOU CAN HELP
1) Make a direct donation to Save the Children’s Gaza Emergency Appeal via this page – either as an individual member or from your local district
2) Make an offline donation if you’d prefer to send your donations via bank transfer by emailing fundraising@savethechildren.org.uk
To give you an idea of how your support could help:
- £10 could provide a Dignity Kit containing a variety of sizes of sanitary towels and underwear.
- £250 could provide one household with cash (or a cash voucher) to help them buy essentials like food, water and other essentials for one month.
- £1,725 could provide 3,600 water bottles to those struggling to access drinking water.
- £9,280 could provide 250 families with Baby Kits to give them the items they need to provide basic care to their child.
THE SITUATION IN GAZA AND ISRAEL
Save the Children condemns the killing of civilians, including children. The killing and maiming of children, along with attacks on schools and hospitals, is a grave violation of human rights and international law, and those responsible should be held to account for their actions.
All sides must make every effort to protect the lives of children in the latest outbreak of fighting. Civilians, and infrastructure essential for their lives, such as hospitals and schools, must be spared from the violence.
Children are terrified, have been forced from their homes, and are cut off from an education. If violence escalates further, children’s lives and futures will be the inevitable cost. The only way to truly protect children’s lives is to halt this violence.
