Story
The issues The Nord Center helps people cope with are among the most stigmatized and hardest to talk about: schizophrenia, suicide and sexual assault among them. The personal accounts we hear of how our agency has helped someone in the most trying of circumstances are a continual reminder of how crucial it is that we never waver from our commitment to be there:
When John's family finds him experiencing initial signs of psychosis and desperately wants to help him to keep his life on track
When Abbie finally shares with her parents that she is experiencing suicidal thoughts
When Ann is raped and needs help putting her life back together
With your support, we can ensure that services such as the FIRST Program, the 24/7 Crisis Stabilization Service and Lorain & Huron County Rape Crisis are there when and where our neighbors need them. Through these and many more services, The Nord Center helps over 7,000 people each year, from age 4 to well into the eighties. And no matter what brings someone to our agency, our commitment is the same: to provide excellent care for them and to treat them with compassion.
